One of the drawbacks with the Mini-T is that the standard all-in-one radio gear is incompatible with standard receivers and servos. If you choose to upgrade the receiver and speed controller (as many of us do), you need to fit a new servo as well.
The most popular servo to use is the Hitec HS-55. It fits neatly in the space left for the servo, and is reasonably priced. In fact, even the gears in the drivetrain are very similar (dare I say Losi were “inspired” by the design...). This is to our benefit - it means we can use the output gear from the kit servo in the HS-55, allowing us to fit the kit servo saver (oddly, Losi chose to use a hex servo fitting, rather than the usual splined one). But a little more work is required to get the servo saver centred and turning smoothly.
Step 1
Remove the servo saver from the kit servo, open up the servo by undoing the 4 screws at the bottom, and remove the output gear.
